Is the endopilot compatible with reciprocating file systems?

Yes, the EndoPilot motor operates in both full rotation and a reciprocating motion.  The EndoPilot motor allows you to fully customize the left and right motion and the speed and torque settings.

do i need to buy another file system to use the endopilot?

Absolutely not, the EndoPilot was designed to work with all of the most popular file systems available. Uniquely, as new file systems are released the EndoPilot file library can be updated to reflect these changes.

what are the power requirements for the endopilot?

The EndoPilot only has 1 plug, which powers the entire device.  Only 1 power outlet is required.

what is the warranty on the endopilot?

The company Schlumbohm warrants this product against defects in material and workmanship for the period of one year from the date of the original invoice.  The product warranty by Schlumbohm includes the repair or the replacement of the entire device or of individual parts. The decision if a repair or replacement will be done, rests solely with the manufacturer.

In the case of an alleged defect during warranty, the customer has to inform the Schlumbohm Customer Service Representative immediately. The Customer Service Representative will give further instructions, usually directing the user to return the entire device for service. The costs of the return consignment are at the expense of the sender.

User errors void the warranty.  Schlumbohm does not warrant for wear and dirt in the hand piece and contra angle. Schlumbohm does not warrant for breakage of the display glass. Schlumbohm does not assume any risk or liabilities arising from the clinical use of its products, whether or not such use involves coincidental utilization of other medical devices (e.g. pacemaker).

what is the operating speed of the endopilot?

The EndoPilot motor is designed specifically for endodontic use.  The motor operates at a minimum speed of 200 rpm to a maximum of 1,000 rpm. The suggested manufacturer's speed for each file system is preset in the file library, or can be customized within this range.

what support options are there for the endopilot?

Endo/Tech provides support for the EndoPilot through a wide variety of channels. Support is available via telephone, email, and video conferencing and hands on assistance at Conventions.  Assistance with the EndoPilot is provided free of charge.

what is the operating mechanism for the backfill gun?

The BackFill Gun is a lever/piston type obturation device. Standard gutta percha pellets are placed into the warming barrel and warm gutta percha is extruded through the flexible needle tip by pulling the trigger and advancing the piston plunger.

what sizes of backfill gun tips are available?

The bendable needle tips are available in 3 lumen diameter sizes: 20, 23, and 25 gauges.

What sizes of downpack heat tips are available?

5 different sized tips are available for the D-Pack hand piece.  Each tip is colour coded for easy identification and is interchangeable with a twist lock. The following sizes are available:

XF (040/.04) Green
F (050/.04) Gray
FM (040/.05) Yellow
M (040/.07) Red
ML (040/.09) Blue

how often should the contra angle be lubricated?

Oil should be applied to the contra-angle before every sterilization cycle. Remove the contra-angle from the motor, light hand piece oil should be sprayed into the base of the contra-angle until it can be seen extruding through the chuck head of the contra-angle. Lack of proper lubrication will result in a build up of debris and eventual malfunction of the chuck. Excess oil should be removed following sterilization by running the contra-angle and tipping the head of the hand piece down so oil does not run back into the motor.

can the audible tones on the endopilot be adjusted?

Yes, tones can be turned On/Off under the 'Set-Up' button on the Home screen, and under the 'Options' button in the Working File screen.

can the backfill gun be left on while another component is used?

No, the BackFill Gun component only remains active while the BackFill/DownPack screen is open.

can the recommended file settings be adjusted?

Yes, the EndoPilot allows complete customization of both the speed of rotation and torque settings for all files in its library. In the Working File screen the F. Data button allows the custom settings for speed and/or torque to be selected. These are adjusted using the '- and +' buttons that become visible once the 'RPM' or 'Ncm' boxes have been pressed. When the new setting has been made the 'Save' button must be pressed to confirm the customized setting. The 'Cancel' button will restore the setting to that previously saved.  The speed or torque reset button located between the '- and +' buttons will restore the parameter to the original manufacturer's suggested value. Once selected the 'Save' button must be pressed.

what is the size of the endopilot control unit?

The control unit is very portable.  The dimensions of the control unit are:

Length: 150mm
Width: 120mm
Depth: 20mm - 43mm (wedge shaped)

can i use another contra angle with the endopilot?

Yes, the motor will attach to any contra-angle with an E type connection fitting. It is important to remember however the EndoPilot motor is designed to run with a 1:1 ratio contra-angle therefore a reduction contra-angle such as 6:1 or 8:1 will not provide the proper file speed. Also, only the EndoPilot contra-angle has the Integrated Length Determination (ILD) feature.

when should i calibrate the contra angle?

The contra-angle torque control should be re-calibrated after every cleaning and sterilization cycle.

what should I do if the unit appears to be not working as expected?

Most minor software errors can be corrected by disconnecting the power to the unit. This can be achieved by removing the power plug from the wall socket or by unplugging the black 'Push/Pull' power connector. If you believe the problem is of a more serious nature then please call Endo/Tech at 1-888-554-3636.

how can i reactivate the endopilot after it goes to sleep?

The EndoPilot can be woken up by either touching the screen or by stepping on the foot pedal control. The unit will return to the previously opened screen or if it has been asleep for an extended period of time the Home screen will appear.

what is the 'twist function'?

Twist Function is the EndoPilot's patented Bi-Force technology that prevents the binding of files in tight curved canals by means of alternating left-right rotations. This function is activated automatically only if the file experiences increased resistance to its normal rotational advancement. This function can be turned off if it is not required.

does the endo motor have auto reverse?

EndoPilot's patented Bi-Force technology eliminates the need for an auto-reverse feature.  The alternating left-right rotations work to prevent file binding in the canal. Bi-Force also prevents the over torquing of the file and extrusion of debris down the canal as the file turns in a reverse direction.
